Heavy metals are used in the form of Bhasmas(ash). Bhasma does not contain the toxic form of metal or any impurities, as bhasma manufacture is the transformation from inorganic non-absorbable metal to a herbomineral product is brought about by submitting the metal to different ayurvedic processes namely Shodhan and Maran. Shodhan procedure removes all the impurities from the metal and makes it soft and brittle so that it becomes suitable for further processing. Maran implies that the original metal should not exist in its toxic form. Bhasma is a light, fine, bioavailable and highly absorbable form of metal with a complete change in physical and chemical properties. The toxicity is eliminated and medical properties are enhanced. Hence, there are no side effects with the use of Bhasmas.
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a system of medical treatment for surgically menopausal, transgender, perimenopausal and to a lesser extent postmenopausal women. It is based on the idea that the treatment may prevent discomfort caused by diminished circulating oestrogen and progesterone hormones. The main types of hormones involved are oestrogens, progesterone or progestins, and sometimes testosterone. HRT is often given as a short-term relief from menopausal symptoms (hot flushes, irregular menstruation, fat redistribution etc.). But patients may suffer from severe side effects like ovarian or breast cancers etc. A woman has to be very careful in this transitional phase of menopause so that old age remains blissful. For this, Ayurveda suggests that the patients should undergo Panchakarma, Rasayana, (a process that prevents ageing and promotes longevity, enhances immunity and body resistance, acts as an immunomodulator and antioxidants) and Vajikarana (the process which improves the sexual life)treatments.
Food is the life for living beings. The formation and maintenance of the human body depend upon diet. In the conventional science of today, food is classified into proteins, carbohydrates etc. and the energy they provide is measured in calories. But Ayurveda , diet is based on rasa (taste) ,veerya(potency) ,vipak(biotransformation of food after complete digestion). All these give specific effects on the body. Hence one should be vigilant about the quality, quantity and timing of food intake. Ayurveda advises the diet according to one’s own constitution (Prakriti) or what suits one’s body or lifestyle and season. There is no medicine better than food. Proper diet can reduce the severity of diseases and helps in curing the diseases so that the recovery is faster.
Endocrine disorders like Diabetes, Hypo or Hyperthyroidism, etc. are due to today’s altered or disturbed lifestyle. These altered or disturbed lifestyle changes in the biological clock of human beings resulted in altered secretions of endocrine glands. In this, Ayurveda plays a major role in treating these diseases by means of panchakarma treatment or advising proper lifestyle and diet.
During Covid-19 lockdown, I had developed several physiological complications like indigestion, acidity, vomiting, weakness, fever, headache etc. due to lack of physical exercise, unbalanced diet, and severe vitamin deficiencies. My hectic lifestyle over past several years was also one of the root causes to this problem.
I visited Dr. Pradnya Aptikar for Naturopathic and Ayurvedic treatment in October 2020. Dr. Aptikar not only diagnosed the problem accurately but also recommended me the right kind of diet. Dr. Aptikar treated me with an apt combination of Ayurvedic medicines.
I am very glad to post this review in January 2021 as I stand fully recovered within 3 months because of her Ayurvedic medicines and without any side effects. Hats off to Dr. Pradnya Aptikar’s extensive medicinal practice; my vitamin levels and other physiological parameters are now back to normal just with the prescribed diet and without taking any supplements in any form of tablets or injections.
