आज श्री राम नवमी निमित्त सुंठवडा

घटकद्रव्ये

घटकद्रव्ये
1 भाग सुके खोबरे
1 भाग खडी साखर
1/2 भाग धने
1/2 भाग सुंठ पावडर
1/4 भाग ओवा
थोडी वेलची पावडर

सुके खोबरे, धने आणि ओवा थोडे भाजून घ्यावे.
मिक्सर मधून बारीक वाटून घ्यावे. खडीसाखर सुध्दा मिक्सर मधून बारीक वाटून घ्यावी. नंतर सुंठ पावडर व वेलची पावडर चांगले मिसळून घ्यावे. झाला सुंठवडा तयार……

सुंठवडा च प्रसाद म्हणून का???
विशेषत: श्री राम जन्म व श्री हनुमान जयंती दिवशी तर नक्कीच… इतर देवांच्या जन्मोत्सव प्रसंगी सुध्दा जसे श्री दत्त जयंती, श्री कृष्ण जयंती श्री गणेश जयंती इत्यादी

श्री राम व श्री हनुमान यांचा जन्म भारतवर्षातील वसंत ऋतूमध्ये… त्या मुळे या काळात थंडीत जमा झालेला कफ वसंतऋतूच्या सूर्याच्या उष्णतेने विलयित म्हणजेच द्रवीभूत पातळ व्हायला लागतो. त्यामुळे सर्दी, खोकला असे विकार उत्पन्न व्हायला लागतात. त्यावरउत्तम उपाय म्हणजे सुंठ. चवीला तिखट व गुणाने उष्ण असल्याने कफ कमी करते पण पचल्यावर गोड रस उत्पन्नकरत असल्याने पित्त वाढवत नाही. त्यामळे वात, पित्त व कफ अशा तिन्ही दोषांवर काम करते. म्हणूनच विश्वा, * विश्व भेषज* अशा नावाने सुंठ ओळखले जाते. जगातील सर्व रोगांवर योग्यमात्रा व अनुपानासह वापरता येते.
सुंठवड्यातील इतर पदार्थ सुध्दा असेच काम करतात व खडी साखर शरीरास उपयोगी असा चांगला निराम कफ निर्माण करते. वात व पित्त शमन करते.

सुंठीस स्त्रीमित्र असे ही संबोधले जाते. कारण सुतिकाअवस्थेत सुंठ अत्यंत उपयुक्त आहे. त्या मुळे देवांच्या जन्मानंतर देण्याची रूढी पडली असावी.

जे जे देवासाठी ते ते देहासाठी या न्यायाने बाळंतिणीला सुंठ वापरली जाते. याने भूक चांगली लागून पचन शक्ती सुधारल्याने ताकद वाढते व शरीराची झीज भरून निघते.

Masoor Pulao : healthy protein supplement for patients having bowel problems

 

Medicinal use-

 

Ingredients- ( for 5-6 persons)

Basmati rice 250gms, akhkha masoor 250gms, groundnut oil 4TBS, 1 medium size bay leaf, 1 crushed Masala velchi- big cardamom, 8-10 freshly crushed black pepper, 1TBS cumin seeds, 4-5 cloves, 1-inch cinnamon, 6-8 freshly chopped garlic cloves, chopped medium size 3 onions, 1inch grated ginger, 2TBS Garam Masala, 1TBS red chilli powder, Saindha salt, water, freshly cut coriander leaves, fresh lemon, cow ghee 5-6TBS

 

Procedure-

 

Soak Akhkha masoor for 3-4hrs  and Basmati rice for 30 mins and then rinse them and keep them separate.

 

Heat the pan on medium flame and then add groundnut oil. Then add bay leaf, masala velchi, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon, cumin seeds, chopped garlic cloves, and vertically chopped Onion and saute all for 2-4 mins till aroma spreads.

 

Then add rinsed akhkha masoor and saute for 2-3 mins. Then add grated ginger, garam masala and red chilli powder to it. Then add rinsed basmati rice. Add 500-600ml hot water and cook on a medium flame for 6-8 mins. Add additional water if needed. Add Saindha namak as per the taste.

Then add cow ghee and garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves. Then cover the pan and cook the pulav for 3-4 ins on low heat.

 

Serve hot with fresh lemon juice and cow ghee.

 

Suitable for all and in all seasons.

Moong Dosa: Perfect Breakfast for everyone

Medicinal use-

 

Light to digest can be used as a protein supplement hence useful in protein deficiency conditions.   ( पोटभर व पौष्टिक पण पचायला हलके) आहेत

 

Moong Dosa

 

Ingredients – (For 5-6 persons)

500 gms yellow moong daal, 250gms rice( any type), 1TBS cumin seeds, 1inch ginger, 5-6 garlic cloves, fresh coriander leaves, Saindhav salt, 1TBS red chilli powder, half TBS turmeric powder

 

Procedure-

Rinse and soak the moong daal and rice grains for 6-7hours. Then grind these along with cumin seeds, ginger, garlic, and fresh coriander leaves into a very fine paste. Then add saindha salt, chilli powder as per the taste. Add water to adjust the consistency of the dosa batter.

Heat the Bead or non-stick Pan-Tawa on medium flame. Spread the dosa batter and make the dosas. 

Serve hot and crispy along with delicious green pudina chutney or red tomato chutney.

( Hot Solkadhi/ गरम सोलकढी/ नारळाचे सार)

A famous recipe from Goa

Medicinal use-
Appetizer, taste stimulant, acid reliever, energy booster drink(especially after chronic fever), constipation reliever
( अग्नी दीपक, पाचक, रुचिप्रद, दौर्बल्य नाशक, पित्त शामक, जीर्ण ज्वरानंतर च्या अवस्थेत उपयोगी )

 

Ingredients- ( servings for 4-5 persons)
Coconut milk (4 coconut/ 2 tetra packs of coconut milk concentrate), 

Kokam concentrate( अगळ) 100-150 ml, 

Water 1200-1500ml

 

For Tadka(तडका/फोडणी)-

Cow ghee 2TBS,

1 tsp cumin seeds,

cut pieces of 2-3 green chillies,

5-6 fresh green curry leaves, asafoetida (हिंग),

cut fresh green coriander leaves,

Saindha namak

Sugar

Procedure-
Mix the coconut milk and kokam concentrate in a pan. Add a sufficient amount of water and dilute the concentration of both. Then add tadka to the mixture. Add saindha namak and sugar as per the taste. Heat the mixture for 4-5 mins just before serving. Do not boil the mixture. Garnish with fresh chopped green coriander leaves. Serve hot as an appetizer and as a taste stimulant.

Boost Immunity: Selfcare Guidelines By Ministry of Ayush

Ayurveda is the traditional medicine system of India. It has a huge potential in preventive and curative healthcare. Ayurveda has always emphasized more upon on body’s response. The occurrence of disease happens only if the Bala (Body immunity) is reduced.


The preventive aspect of our immunity function is majorly related to our digestive system. Balanced doshas or bio-energies, through cleansing, are also essential for a proper resistance to illness.


In the wake of COVID-19 cases, enhancing the body’s natural defence system (immunity) is important in maintaining optimum health. The Ministry of Ayush recommends the following self-care guidelines modified as per the available evidence for improving immunity.


1. Drink lukewarm water frequently.


2. Daily practice of Yogasana, Pranayama and meditation for at least 30 minutes as advised by the Ministry of Ayush National Clinical Management Protocol for COVID-19 prophylaxis


3. Spices like Haldi (Turmeric), Jeera (Cumin), Dhaniya (Coriander), Saunth (Dry ginger) and Lahsun (Garlic) are recommended in cooking.


4. Consumption of fresh Amla fruit (Indian gooseberry) or Amla products.


5. Gargling with warm water added with a pinch of turmeric and salt.


6. Food should be freshly prepared, and easily digestible.


7. Take adequate sleep (7-8 hours) and avoid daytime sleep.
